[edit] Hélène Lacombe

Hélène Lacombe is the Director of Scientology's Ottawa office, according to a story in the Ottawa Sun that appeared only a few weeks before the February 10th protests (article fails due to pro-scion conclusion, but it contains some interesting info). Her name was matched to the face thanks to one anon overhearing her mentioning her first name in a conversation with a documentarist.

Anonymous lubs Hélène, but so far Hélène has not shown forth lub in return. Anonymous even sent a valentine but got no response. Anonymous was all sad :( But Anonymous will not fail in its lub for Dear Hélène, even if the moon disappears from the sky... OH SHI-

She has been in the church 21 years, and has the following listed for service completions:

Name Course Location Date
Helene Lacombe CLEAR Celebrity 270 1993-11-01
Helene Lacombe OBJECTIVE AUDITING Celebrity 270 1993-11-01
Helene Lacombe NED DRUG RUNDOWN Celebrity 270 1993-11-01

Hélène is also listed on Auditor 249's list of clears (1993-12-01), and is listed many times on Scientology's Honor Roll in Impact, from Issue No. 27 (1989) all the way to Issue No. 114 (2006-09-01)—in which she appears on the Senior Honor Roll.

[edit] Cathie Mann

"Reverend" Cathie Mann, Director of Special Affairs (read: OSA Rep) for the Church of Scientology in Ottawa, hasn't been formally introduced to Anonymous yet, but she has "been around since [19]78" ([1] [2]), and now handles media relations for the Church. As such, her name pops up in far more media stories than Hélène Lacombe's. Basically, her job is to be the bright and cheerful face of Scientology, schmoozing with public officials, representatives of other religions and faith groups as part of the Capital Region Interfaith Council, heading up the local chapter of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (aka Scientology's anti-psychology front group)—using it to complain about psych drugs to committees of the Ontario provincial government[3], fielding requests from members of the press, and, oh yeah, paying "visits" to the family members of Scientology critics such as Gregg Hagglund. From the Globe and Mail:

For two years Scientology's Yonge Street headquarters has been the target of picketing by Mr. Hagglund and others. His protests have also taken him to Clearwater, Fla., where Scientology's U.S. parent is facing criminal charges in the 1995 death of a member.

[H]is home has been counterpicketed several times by Scientologists who have stuffed leaflets in mailboxes and paraded along the sidewalk with signs accusing him of bigotry. "I couldn't believe it," said Shelly Ferguson, who lives five doors down. "Gregg had warned us they were going to picket and we'd been wondering, 'Who's crazier, Gregg or these people?' Then the truck rolls up with the pickets, and I went, 'Oh, Gregg's not nuts. These people are really off the deep end.'"

Last May, Mr. Hagglund's 19-year-old son Christopher was arrested on a drug charge, accused of selling cannabis and hallucination-inducing psilocybin mushrooms to high-school students. The charge, which Christopher Hagglund denies, remains before the courts. Veteran Toronto Scientologist Peter Ramsay wrote to Halton Crown attorney Bob Lush, complaining about the older Mr. Hagglund's anti-Scientology activities and suggesting that his son's plight might be connected to the fact that his father practises a religion akin to witchcraft.

Then, earlier this month, two Scientologists - Toronto church spokesman Al Buttnor and Ottawa official Cathie Mann - paid Mr. Hagglund's parents a visit at their Ottawa home. Wilma Hagglund, in her 80s, did not let them in. But she was mindful of Scientology's reputation as a vigorous opponent, and the encounter left her unnerved. "I told them that what my son did was his own business and I didn't want anything to do with it, and they went away."

Why the visit? "I think you know why," Mr. Buttnor said. "It has to do with hatred." Ms. Mann who once tried to pay a similar visit to Mr. Hagglund's brother, said the mission "was to just go and see if we could maybe talk to Hagglund's parents just to see if we could get a sense of why he is doing this and if there's some way they could help. It wasn't to upset them at all, and I felt very bad because Mrs. Hagglund ... was very upset."

Mr. Buttnor perceives Mr. Hagglund and his ilk as mean-minded bigots targeting one of the world's new religions, whose leaders sometimes liken their situation to that of Jews in Nazi Germany. That's not the view of Detective Richard Kijewski of the Toronto Police Service's hate-crimes unit, long familiar with Scientology's running wars. Mr. Hagglund's activities thus far involve criticism rather than hatred, Det. Kijewski said. "According to the definition in the [Criminal] Code, both groups have a right to demonstrate.... Whether this is going to escalate , I don't know."([4])

Cathie is also noted as "the first female minister of the Church of Scientology of Ontario to be granted the right by the Province of Ontario to solemnize marriages". ([5])

[edit] Gordon Omand

Gordon is a class IV Case Supervisor (C/S) and auditor. He states that "becoming an Auditor gives you an insight into the human mind that makes you virtually invincible." He also claims to be "having incredible wins." Like Tom Cruise, he states his belief that "Scientology holds the only working technology to pull society out of the mud." He implies he is heading towards becoming an OT and back on the Bridge. Picture coming as soon as it gets scanned

[edit] Patrick Clarke

Patrick is the Public Executive Secretary of the Ottawa Church of Scientology. He is described as being in his late 20's, with dirty-blonde hair, and stands about 5'10. He is an auditor (a guy who repeats the same thing over and over while you sit greased up and glued to a makeshift lie detector).

Patrick has +7 roller-blading skills.

[edit] Staff Response to Anonymous

According to Tory "Magoo" Christman, Scientology staff were given the following orders in dealing with Anonymous on Feb. 10th:

  1. Stare them down. This is "out tech" (unnatural) for Scientologists, as they're supposed to "confront evil".
  2. Do NOT acknowledge them at all. Again, an unnatural response.

This is why the Scientologist representatives mostly stood motionless outside their own door during the protest and refused to speak to members of Anonymous. We should note, however, that this may change in the future; there are rumours that the orgs will be calling in their OTs (Basically, the ones who've paid the most for all their drivel, and allegedly have super powers) to face off against Anonymous; the rules of engagement apply. Watch out for the Jedi Mind Trick.

Scibot sympathizers have also posted threads on alt.religion.scientology to infiltrate protests and launch firebombs into Co$ churches in order to "frame" anonymous. Although these threats are probably hype designed to dissuade Anonymous from protesting, Scientology has been known to employ such "kamikaze" tactics to smear opponents in the past.

tl;dr: Anonymous should continue to be on alert for scilon spies and ready to hand over Hostile Entities to the Partyvan at a moment's notice.
